I have owned and managed flower shop for over 14 years now. I like coming to the shop daily, and I talk to my customers pretty much every day. I have met thousands of people, and answered millions of their questions. Today, I want to share a few main questions and answers with you. Here they are:
- I love your shop. It’s beautiful! So how come some other flower shops have no flowers in them?
- Thank you. I am sure they have flowers. They just don’t like to make anything, unless you pre-order first. Smart thing to do if you ask me.
2. I like this design. But can you just like, put more flowers into the arrangement?
- Yes, we can, but it will cost more $. How much more are you willing to pay?
3. How close are you to this location?
- It makes no difference how close we are. Florists don’t run around with just one order at the time. We load up the entire van, and we go by the route. We do have flat delivery charge. And if we know that we can’t make it today, we will find some other shop that can. That is all to it.
4. So when my flowers are going to be delivered?
- Unless you paid for rush delivery, we don’t really know. It will be delivered today, if it was placed (and accepted) for today’s delivery.
5. So why grocery store roses are $9.99, and yours are $60.00?
- Because we don’t sell $9.99 roses.
6. I don’t really care how long the stems are. Why do you price them by the stems length?
- So longer the stems, so stronger are the flowers, and so bigger their heads are. Most flowers are delivered on the airplanes from overseas, and weight of flowers dictates their price. So longer the stems are, so better is the quality of flower. So more expensive it is to grow and deliver them.
7. Where do you get your flowers from?
- Our roses come from Ecuador or Colombia. Tulips and hiathynth from Holland, and orchids from Hawaii. Why?
8. My boyfriend ordered multi colored roses from some other shop. And some of them lasted for just a few days, and some are still good looking after two weeks! Why is that?
- Different kind of flowers last different amount of time, and different kind of roses last different amount of time as well. It doesn’t mean they were not fresh. Flowers can be cut the same day, but last different amount of time. Just like people, can be born at the same day, but live different amount of time. Enjoy the ones you have.
9. Flowers don’t last long. Why should I waste $ on them.
- How long does a smile last? Some things in life, are not measured by material returns.
10. Why did you decide to open a flower shop?
- Because I like to deliver smiles.
11. So you are not in this business for a profit?
- If we didn’t make any profit, we wouldn’t be in business for over 14 years. We connect loving hearts. Deliver love messages. What can be more satisfying?
12. So what flowers should I order? I want her to like them!
- Ask your own heart, and order the flowers YOU like. If you are a lifelong match, she will like the flowers you picked. Don’t try to be someone else, to be liked by her.
13. I never ordered flowers before. What should I get?
- You want her to receive your flowers, and you want her to like them. How much are you willing to pay for it? Once I know the price, I know what to suggest.
14. I guess I will just call you on delivery day and see what you have in stock?
- If you just want something, you do that. If you want something great, you order now.
15. So how do I know that you will deliver exactly what I ordered?
- If we need to make substitutions, we will contact you and let you know. But if you want my opinion, don’t try to micromanage designers. What you see on web-sites, is usually just some generic choices. Order Designer's Choice instead, and wait to be amused!
16. So why can’t I just order from some web-site online, why do I need to come to you?
- Because no one does business for free. If you order from some florist that is not in your state (or not even in your city), you pay 20-50% of the order to someone else but the florist that made and delivered your flowers. If you want quality, skip the middle man.
17. As a florist, what advice can you give to me as a customer?
- Buy what you like, and buy often. So more you do it, so more you learn about flowers. So more your love partner will love you :)
